Much regret is felt at the death of Mrs Elizabeth Davies,
Maesyrhaf, Trealaw, the widow of Mr Thos. Davies, late Dunraven Hotel,
Tonypandy, and mother of Mrs. Wm. Morgan, Whitehall, Trealaw. The
deceased lady, who was 76 years of age, was a true representative of the
earliest natives of the Rhondda, and a well known figure in the
district. For 60 years she was an adherent of the Baptist denomination
first at Ffrwdamos and latterly at Jerusalem, Llwynypia, of which church
she was a member at the time of her death.
The funeral took place on Tuesday at Ffrwdamos burial-ground, Penygraig. The
remains, were conveyed by hearse into the church yard, and were proceeded by a
large and representative gathering of country and local gentlemen and tradesmen.
The mourners were: First carriage, Mr and Mrs Morgan, Whitehall, Trealaw
[daughter and son-in-law] Mr Thomas Davies [son] and the Misses Morgan; second
carriage, Mr and Mrs Arthur Thomas, Mrs Roberts, and Mr. Johnny Davies
[Pencoed]; third carriage Mrs Williams [Clydach Court], Mrs Llewellyn [Trealaw]
and the Misses Llewellyn; fourth carriage Mrs Davies [Pencoed] and family; Mrs
M. Davies, Tonypandy [sister] fifth carriage Mrs Keyes [Thistle Hotel,
Tonypandy], Rev J.R. Jones and Mrs Jones, Pontypridd.
Among the chief mourners who walked were: Mr. Richard Bevan, Lee Hotel,
Penrhiwceiber [nephew], Mr Willie Jones, Belfast [grandson] Messrs David Jones &
Johnny Jones [grandsons] Mr Ivor Morgan, Whitehall, Mr Wm Davies Pencoed, Master
Johnny Davies Pencoed [grandson] Mr& Mrs Davies Maesyfynnon, Trealaw, Mr & Mrs
Geo Davies, Gelli Farm, Tonypandy, Mr Howell Llewellyn, Trealaw.

The funeral arrangements were directed by Messrs. Griffiths and Sons.,
